Dear AICS/BICnet customers:
Well, the transition to NetWay has, as some of you have experienced, hit a couple of snags, but the issues are being resolved as you read this.
Let me first of all thank all of those customers that have already switched to the NetWay dial-in numbers.
On Monday there were an extraordinary number of incoming calls that flooded the "modems" at NetWay. This was caused by many people being at home and trying to use the Internet, and is not normal.
NetWay already had more lines on order and those lines should be installed on Wednesday. Also late on Wednesday night NetWay will be removing the US Robotics "modems" that are currently in use and swapping them for Lucent TNT "modems". This should eliminate many of the connection problems that some of you have been experiencing. The Lucent TNT "modems" are the same type that NaviPath, the provider of the -3472 phone numbers, uses.
If you would like to continue to use the -3472 numbers please do so until Thursday or Friday of this week. Please note that the -3472 numbers will stop working early next week. At that time you will no longer be able to dial-in on those numbers and will have to use the NetWay numbers.
We have received a set of alternate numbers that you can use if you are having problems with the current NetWay dial-up numbers. These numbers are listed on the AICS/BICnet web site, along with detailed instructions on how to change the phone number.
PLEASE watch the AICS/BICnet web page for updates. We have been updating the page on a regular basis, at least once a day. Also please pass this information along to any AICS/BICnet customer that you know, as we know that some of you do not read e-mail.
We have made a great effort to call each and every one of our customers, and will continue to do so until Friday. Since it will be impossible for us to call everyone on Thursday and Friday, it is important that you check the web page for updates. This is the fastest way for us to get information out to everyone. The web page can be found at http://www.bicnet.net.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I have talked to many of you personally and have been touched by your words of encouragement and understanding. I also want to thank you all for the kind e-mail's that I have received, as well as the not so kind e-mail's. I am working closely with the owners of NetWay to ensure that all of your needs will be met in the months and years to come.
I want to thank each of you that have made these past 5+ years an absolute pleasure.
I will be reading and responding to any e-mail's sent to this address through February 16th. At that point I'm sure one of the owners of NetWay will be taking over this role.
For the entire staff at AICS/BICnet, sincerely
James Sweatt
President
